The IT Summit 2024, organized by Axiz and the Mauritius Institute of Directors (MIoD), began today at the J&J Auditorium in Phoenix. This two-day event promises to deliver executive insights and engaging panel discussions featuring tech leaders from Mauritius and the broader region.

The inaugural day, themed "Navigating Digital Sustainability," provided a platform for industry professionals to share their expertise and experiences.

The summit began with a welcome note from Sheila Ujoodha, the CEO of MIoD, followed by an opening speech by Craig Brunsden, the CEO of the Axiz Group of Companies. The U.S. Embassy to the Republic of Mauritius and Seychelles also contributed to the opening session, with His Excellency Henry V. Jardine addressing the business community. Ambassador Jardine shared the U.S. Government's perspective on Artificial Intelligence, highlighting collaborations with key players to develop a code of conduct, best practices, and integrate these into global policies. He expressed his delight at the strong presence of U.S. companies at the event.

The keynote speech was delivered by the Hon. Soomilduth Bholah, Minister of Financial Services and Good Governance, who cited examples of technologies that have positively impacted our daily routine. He mentioned that last year his ministry together with the Financial Services Commission (FSC) have launched the use of digital signature.

Throughout the day, representatives from global technology vendors and partners took the stage to share their insights on Responsible AI. The day's events culminated in a panel discussion titled "Navigating Digital Sustainability," where professionals debated and discussed the future of digital sustainability in the region.

As the IT Summit 2024 continues, participants look forward to more enriching sessions and discussions aimed at fostering innovation and sustainable growth in the IT industry.
