The African Media Initiative to promote democratic governance, social development and economic growth of media sector in Africa.

Today’s guests are Eric Chinje and Wangethi Mwangi, Chief Executive Officer and Senior Advisor of the African Media Initiative and Nad Sivaramen, Director of Publications at the Sentinelle Ltd. Eric Chinje and Wangethi Mwangi are in Mauritius to attend a lecture on Technology and Development on a globalising World by Pr Kausik Basu, Senior vice-president and Chief Economist of the World Bank. The promotion of democratic governance, social development and economic growth of the continent’s private and independent media sector is one the main objectives of the African Media Initiative, a pan-african organisation.

Eric Chinje and Wangethi Mwangi seized the opportunity to visit la Sentinelle Headquarters to take stock of the whole gamut of changes the company has gone through to link the traditional way of newsmaking to the requirements of the digital world. This has created the opportunity for la Sentinelle to set up a whole process of integration of all its operations. This is a process that the African Media Initiative is eager to learn about in a bid to share la Sentinelle’s experience with other media stakeholders on the African continent.
