Amidst the humid vegetation in Mauritius, we come across a rare species of chameleon known as the Orange Raj. He possesses a super tongue that reacts much faster than his brain and slashes at his preys, at the speed of helicopter Dhruv in motion. Amongst his favourite snacks: the Thierry Henry, which he refers to as the Killer insect.
Apart from his colourful language, the Orange Raj chameleon – affectionately nicknamed the Bal kouler lizard or the Slip of the tongue specialist by the local inhabitants – is also known for his marvelous ability to take on the colour of what he touches to blend into his surroundings, depending on who surrounds him. He is an expert at boot licking and the ones he likes most are that of SAJ, the leader of his “herd”.
The luxurious political forests of this paradise island are also home to other incredible creatures such as Maya the killer bee. One thing you might not want to do, is to accuse her of “bee-ing” biased while she manages her hive. Recently, a woman going by the name of Touria Bee-eater was stung after having dared to criticize her. Rummaging through the majestic, rich canopies, an explorer can moreover have a close encounter with other terrific specimens that make up the animal kingdom. Amongst which Navin the toothless lion, Showkut the wild dog, Xavier the woodcock, Pravind the chipmunk and Paul the white-browed owl, just to name a few. Not to mention the mythic creature that has been sighted in the blue waters of Mauritius, Alain the dolphin – half man, half fish – and Anil the mocking bird, who is allergic to cannabis.
