À l’heure du tout à l’image et du buzz sans suite, «l’express» souhaite faire découvrir la plume de poètes, de chanteurs, d’écrivains et de tous ceux qui jettent leur âme sur le papier, et qui mettent en mots des réflexions profondes.
The island name places
now sounding surreal
tripped off the tongue
in mother’s dulcet utterances;
Congomah I recall
as paternal beginnings,
rurality at its rawest, greenest;
Ruisseau Rose comes
to mind, its babbling waters
its sedgy river bank
decked with flowers pink
and other colours;
in the cameo the mynahs
have sung, the sun has sparkled,
the moon has glistened,
the tropical rain has splashed.

Souvenirs
When senses by cane syrup
are indulgently sweetened,
by Green Islands pepped up,
by teas of Bois Cheri titillated,
by basalt peaks elevated,
by shimmering seas
and languorous lagoons
beguiled and enraptured,
what more is there to please?
there are the winsome smiles ,
the mellow medley of colours
in a row in the market
or at random in fields,
all mementos in delicate
parcels tucked into memories
as candies to cherish in dreams.

Your island
May your island
in spirit
remain green
and the sun of your smile spread
blessings radiant
all round
to light up
your every step,
brighten every part
of your demesne,
making your quiet
seclusion joyful,
though rain may fall.
