A Mauritian delegation in Sochi

A Mauritian NGO delegation of nine persons attended the “World Youth Festival-24” (WYF24), in Sochi, Russia. The main parts of the WYF24 were held from 2nd to 6th of March at the Olympic build City at Sirius, named as World Youth City.

The opening and closing ceremonies were held at the Bolshoi Sports Palace, in Sirius. President Vladimir Putin addressed the opening and closing ceremonies. His message was short, sweet and to the point with no political colouring and affiliations. President Putin called upon the young people to stand on their own feet and build their nations as a first priority. During the opening ceremony, Vladimir Putin addressed the participants of the WYF, stating, “Multi-ethnic unity is our supreme value, and it has largely shaped the principles by which our state and society live and develop today.”

At the closing ceremony of the World Youth Festival, held in the Sirius federal territory in Russia’s Krasnodar region, President Putin delivered a vibrant message, full of militancy, to the participants. In his speech, he touched upon several issues that define the event, as well as the world at large. “Equal conditions for all do not exist.” “We are all born equal, but the question is: Are we growing, are we developing in equal conditions?’ The answer is, unfortunately, no. There is no equal world for all. And this is the main injustice of today’s world order, today’s world,” Putin said during the closing. He also noted that the quest for a just world order would make the world more transparent, democratic, sustainable, balanced, and secure.
