The opening was grand and the selected guests flocked from all over the country to Pointe aux Canonniers for the inauguration of Sasha’s new hair salon – an event many had for a long time been waiting for.

If for Sasha’s faithful clients, the new hair salon brings Sasha Coiffure to their doorstep, for Sasha, it was a dream come true. His ambition of being present throughout the island has just come to fruition. He can now offer a similar service to all his clients nearer to their home.

Sasha described hairdressing as part of his DNA as it was transmitted from father to sons – Sasha’s brothers also being hairdressers working around the world. And it was in the presence of one of the brothers and under the caring eye of the father that the ribbon was cut by Attorney General Maneesh Gobin, who hailed “Mosafeer Senior and Mosafeer Junior as being two pioneers in the hairdressing industry”, adding that hairdressing became even more important during Covid, as the first place one wanted to run to after the lockdown was the hairdresser.  

Sasha counts 27 years in an industry which he revolutionised, taking it to a whole new level, with an unequalled service and impeccable professionalism. He also devoted many years working towards transmitting hairdressing skill and know-how to new generations through his academy, Sasha The School.

There were sweet moments as elegant models cat walked in the lush garden of the salon and moments of magic when Sasha and members of his academy engaged in a live hairdressing and makeup session. The excitement was palpable.

The new salon is strategically located and offers the same standards Sasha’s customers are used to. It has a beautiful wooden structure, a similar layout design to the other salons and is as luxurious. More importantly perhaps, it has a spa and a coffee shop. Who can live without coffee and pampering? For those who like Sasha’s special touch, he will be there every Wednesday.

What determined picking this place? “I fell in love with this tree”, Sasha said, pointing to a thriving Tecoma tree that creates a soothing and uplifting atmosphere and adds to the serenity of the salon. All for the love of a tree. As good a reason as any to pick a place, isn’t it?
