A song for all

The world we live in is torn by conflicts driven by selfishness and greed. Our planet is dying because of selfishness and greed. Millions of children, women and men are suffering just because some of us worship Mammon and they wield power. Religious leaders, scientists, philosophers and artists of all forms and genres tell us that it is possible to live differently, that wealth does not mean health, that solidarity and sharing are the real keys to bliss but we choose to hear only the jarring harsh music of tinkling and jingling coins.

It is now imperative for humanity to start a new culture of production, distribution and consumption which is eco-friendly and based on solidarity and sharing. We can do it. A few years ago, no one would have thought that a teenage girl could inspire millions to join the fight against the world’s oligarchs and their political allies. Now it’s happening.

Throughout the planet, ordinary people are joining the fray against dictatorship, injustice and inhuman practices such as ethnic cleansing, genital mutilation, child marriage, sex discrimination and crimes. New leaders who are emerging have the moral strength to stand against customs belonging to the past.

We are today witnessing the birth of a new political culture which can cope with local and planetary issues at one and the same time. We have “ONLY ONE EARTH”. If it dies, we all die. Let’s hold hands and sing while we fight the enemies of our planet, the enemies of life, the enemies of our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

THIS EARTH IS MINE
(Based on the Exodus song)

This Earth is mine, God gave this Earth to me
This brave and ancient Earth to me
And when the morning sun reveals her hills and plain
Then I see an Earth where children can run free
So, take my hand and walk this Earth with me
And walk this lovely Earth with me
Though I am just a man, when you are by my side
With the help of God, I know I can be strong
Though I am just a man, when you are by my side
With the help of God, I know I can be strong
To make this Earth our home
If I must fight, I’ll fight to make this Earth our own
Until I die, this Earth is mine
We could do it in our language as well.
