Pour répondre un peu tardivement à une déclaration du 16 mars 2024 de l’Alliance de l’Espoir à l’effet que le gouvernement indien «péna problem pou rann sa lakorla (sur Agaléga, NDLR) piblik», Pravind Jugnauth a tenu, mardi au Parlement, à contredire l’opposition à travers une question plantée et posée par Kavi Doolub. Ainsi, le Premier ministre a rappelé un communiqué émis le 22 août 2018 par le haut-commissariat de l’Inde à Maurice qui disait:«Any statement that the Government of India is willing to disclose bilateral agreements between India and Mauritius in areas including bilateral assistance projects and commercial cooperation, whereas the Government of Mauritius is not willing to do so, is entirely incorrect.» Et Pravind Jugnauth d’ajouter, reprenant presque mot pour mot la déclaration de la haute-commissaire indienne Nandini Singla : *«I would add that any statement that the Government of India is willing to disclose bilateral agreements on Government of India-assisted projects, whereas the Government of Mauritius is not willing to do so, is factually incorrect.»

*Ces deux affirmations solennelles semblent à première vue signifier qu’il est faux de dire que l’Inde est disposée à rendre publics les accords entre nos deux pays concernant des projets financés par elle et que le gouvernement mauricien n’est pas d’accord. Cependant, une autre interprétation de ce langage diplomatique donne ceci : «Dire que l’Inde est disposée à rendre ces accords publics à condition que Maurice le veuille, est erroné. Dans cette dernière interprétation, il semble que l’Inde veuille dire que son gouvernement serait d’accord peu importe si Maurice est d’accord ou non.» Pour être sûrs, nous avons demandé un éclaircissement du haut-commissariat indien . Nous sommes dans l’attente de sa réponse.

Your Excellency Mrs Nandini Singla In Parliament on the 23rd of April 2024, Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth quoted a communiqué issued by the Indian High Commission in Mauritius on the 22nd of August 2018 about Agaléga Island: “Any statement that the Government of India is willing to disclose bilateral agreements between India and Mauritius in areas including bilateral assistance projects and commercial cooperation, whereas the Government of Mauritius is not willing to do so, is entirely incorrect.” Can you please confirm whether the declaration means that the Government of India will be willing to disclose bilateral agreements between India and Mauritius in areas including bilateral assistance projects and commercial cooperation if the government of Mauritius is willing to do so?
