It was dark and dreary,
There was a sound, it was eerie.
I shivered; it was cold,
But I stepped forward,
brave and bold.
The Monster
In the tomb I crept,
Where the monster slept.
It was dark and dense,
Then I saw a fence.
I thought I heard a snore,
Then I heard a roar.
The Cave
The cave was pitch-black.
The cave had a crack.
The cave had a pool.
The cave was not cool.
Bio
Maryam Paurobally
Born in Australia from Mauritian parents, she is a typical ten year old. Currently in Year 6 at Royal Grammar Guilford School, in Qatar, she absolutely loves English, Maths and Science. Her dream is to become a wellacclaimed published author, “like Flaubert”, she says. She is also a fan of sports like long jump, football, netball and attends swimming training. She here shares three of her poems.
