Forget Motivation, Follow Discipline
Nikhil Gobin.
À l’heure du tout à l’image et du buzz sans suite, «l’express» souhaite faire découvrir la plume de poètes, de chanteurs, d’écrivains et de tous ceux qui jettent leur âme sur le papier, et qui mettent en mots des réflexions profondes.
Motivation is often seen as unreliable,
a fleeting feeling that doesn’t always
show up when needed. It is just an
emotion, hence it comes and goes.
One would wonder, “How can I
become motivated about a task I hate?”
Well, you don’t. What you need in such
instances is discipline.
Those who work with passion and
dedication each day are not motivated.
They wake up every morning like
everybody else: tired, unmotivated,
probably grumpy. However, they get to
work because they possess discipline.
What makes the difference between
success and failure is discipline, not
motivation. Following feelings will lead
to idleness. Discipline says, “I don’t
feel like working today, but I’ll work
anyway.”
Being disciplined doesn’t mean
delivering when things are easy; it
means giving your best, even on hard
days. It’s doing the ‘must-do’ things,
not the ‘easy’ things. As a soldier on
the border, or the last-minute penalty
taker, a disciplined person gets up,
assumes his responsibilities and does
his job, irrespective of feelings.
Whereas most would seek comfort
and rest after hard work, some
relentless go-getters find satisfaction
in the struggle and hustle. They draw
their edge by working relentlessly, even
when everyone else is taking a nap.
Mr. and Miss Discipline don’t want
to be average. Fear of failure will have
them ever ready. The fear of
mediocrity can be your drive.
Many people accept being average and
just blend with society. Others refuse
it and yearn to have a different life
through relentless effort.
Success breeds in disciplined approach
down to the smallest tasks.
One becomes able to achieve major
successes just by being punctual,
prepared, and meticulous.
Be strict with yourself.
Most people move through life
without a definite plan.
Those individuals create excuses that
others are the reason behind their
failure or they weren’t “lucky” enough.
People, however, who stand to be
accounted for labouring with
discipline, become successful.
The world values those who overcome
obstacles with bravery and
determination. With discipline comes
new found dimensions of
accomplishment. It changes
dreamers into doers and creates a
bridge between goals and reality.
Just be disciplined in everything you
do, and watch your life transform!
