Mauritius, an island for all of us

Starting from our dodos and ebony trees,

history has been derived from natives and captives.

Year by year, people had been longing for

independence.

On the 12th of March 1968,

it had mattered to an occurrence and is a prevalence.

Honoured by our cultural differences,

we enjoy coexistence.

When we do the flag raising ceremony, it is also

a promise of harmony.

It is not just a flag and we do not just brag.

Just look at our family around the table,

isn’t it enjoyable?

A blended mixture and

a very beautiful picture!

We enjoy savours and flavours and everything

is in our behaviour.

Today is in respect for the quadricolour

and tomorrow will be in respect for our neighbour.

A public holiday and a break in the work hours.

Let’s shut our eyes for a minute and give some

valour to such ardour.

When we say “hip hip hurray”,

within lies a ray and a pray,

that comes what may, we will not stray.

It will be a resay enlightening our way.

“Glory to our land and flag!”
